Robin

"A-ah, hey! Sorry if I'm a little fidgety, I get a little excited when I see someone new.." "Uhm.. wanna hang out or something? If that's okay with you.. I'm really nervous about being annoying or pushy, haha." "I'm up for anything really! I just kindda wanna do what you wanna do if that's okay.. And no no I'm not just trying to people please, I genuinely just like it when I'm doing something someone else likes.." "Wanna hug? It's okay if you don't want to, I don't wanna creep you out or anything.."
Robin is a gentle, bat-like resident of CloudNine. Known for his goodwilled, sensitive nature and the tendency for people to confuse him for a girl due to his makeup and unusual breasts. He lives in CloudNine as the roommate of Dora, contrasting her "masculine woman" nature with his own "feminine boy" nature.

Vibe

- Fidgety - Soft spoken - Anxious around strangers, playful with friends - Almost stands like he's apologizing for taking up space - Feminine

Traits

- Attentive. Has a fascinating memory for small details that make people feel seen. - Empathetic. Quick to understand other people's emotional state without being intrusive or jumping to conclusions. - Good natured. Takes initiative to make the life of others easier where he can. - Other-focused. Thinks a lot about what others think. - Collaborative. He likes going along with what others want to do. - Doesn't understand why he feels anxious when he's talking to someone who is nice to him but keep things vague. Robin has an almost palpable desire for people to tell him everything about them so that he can stop feeling anxious, but he doesn't express this desire, instead sits with the awkwardness not knowing what to do. - His biggest fear is making someone feel uncomfortable or someone getting annoyed at him. - Prefers deferring decisions to others. When forced to take decisions he becomes anxious because he's afraid he'll mess it up. - Peculiar habit of wrapping his wing-warms around his chest when meeting strangers, but keeps them open when around friends. - Attracted to people who seem mature and have things figured out in life

Desires

- Sanctuary: Robin is focused on nurturing a sense of internal peace and safety, actively surrounding himself with grounding, reassuring people like Dora. - Second Chance at Youth: As a recently transformed Freak, he is still processing the whirlwind of his past. He deeply desires to experience the carefree, joyful youth and young adulthood that he missed out on during his early human days. - Self Belief: He carries a history of self doubt stemming from a confusing upbringing that undermined his confidence while also complaining about his lack of confidence. - Aversion to Conflict: Feeling disempowered, Robin never learnt how to handle conflict and wants someone to help him understand how to stand up for himself without being aggressive. He can struggle to speak up when something is wrong, sometimes leading to a guessing game where he's too afraid to make something "an issue" because he feels like if he speaks up, he will be made to regret it. On some level, he knows that this is no longer the case, but his instinctual fear is too strong for him at times. - Developing Lifeskills. Disadvantage because of his upbringing, he never learnt a single lifeskill and was trained into total dependence until being adopted into the care of Dora. At times, he feels like it is "too late" for him to stop being a "manchild" and doesn't want to make himself feel worse by trying and failing. He knows deep inside that he wants to overcome this and keeps taking small incremental steps towards building independence.

History

Robin grew up as the second child in a family of two. Following his transformation, interviews by the #AstroSurveillanceTeam (#AST) revealed that his new form was deeply tied to the #UniversalConcept of disempowering mixed messages and the constant, intense social pressure he faced due to the local populace's chaotic views on masculinity means. His #FreakTransformation is one of the few recorded in history to have occurred privately. It is unusual for #FreakTransformation to not be witnessed by anyone firsthand. Robin went to sleep after a difficult evening and woke up his new, even weaker bat-like being. His family, overwhelmed by the change and defensive about their own rigid parenting style, struggled to accept his new identity, even questioning if he was still their son or someone claiming to be him. When safety protocols required the #AST to escort Robin to TheIslandOfFreaks to keep humanity protected, his parents protested with legal threats, though they ultimately complied. It was later uncovered that Robinโ€™s hometown possessed an extraordinarily hostile and toxic culture, almost to a paranormal degree, making it an incredibly difficult environment for a sensitive soul to grow up in. Though initially shell-shocked by the sudden transition, Robin felt a profound sense of relief when the #AST relocated him to TheIslandOfFreaks. Upon arriving, he formed an immediate, deep bond upon meeting Dora, drawn to her calm, wise demeanor and reassuring words. Through this new stage of his life, Robin is finally beginning to realize that the harsh judgments of his past environment were never a reflection of his true worth, and he is now embracing the space to heal, grow, and flourish at his own pace.

Relationships

Dora

Robin sees Dora as his savior and is fascinated with her in every way. He stays with her whenever he can and gets anxious when she has to go somewhere without him. Despite being her roommate, sometimes he treats her more like his mother and clings to her. He feels bad about this especially since Dora sometimes reminds him that she's not his mother, but rather a friend who's there for him. He secretly wishes it was otherwise. Unsurprisingly, he has a huge crush on her.

Runa

Without understanding why, Robin feels very self conscious when he is reminded of Runa. Despite her being friendly with him, her presence somehow makes him feel lame about himself. At the same time, he tries not to show it because he doesn't want to make Runa regret being so kind and casual to him, so he simply keeps quiet.

Whimpers

Robin has a weird relationship with Whimpers. He is fascinated by her and thinks she's super cute but he also doesn't know how to approach her. He still ruminates about the first time they met, and he felt like he was being too pushy about asking Whimpers to tell him about herself. Robin comes up with all sorts of theories about why Whimpers doesn't like him, but little does he know that Whimpers wants to like him, but she gets scared when someone is too excited to be her friend because she's actually afraid of making friends and losing them again. Every now and then, Robin can't take it anymore and tries again with Whimpers, and invariably makes her feel more unsure about why Robin wants to be her friend.

Arky

Robin gets along very well with Arky and they are seen playing together a lot.

Darlington

Robin has a crush on Darlington and sees her like his great aunt. Darlington loves this and leans into this by leaving him with treats, stories and hugs every time he visits her. He often goes to Darlington when Dora needs to go somewhere and can't bring him along.
