The act of using different magic or scientific methods to play around with the BodyState of a KinkBody.

A new, separate KinkBody that a KinkSoul has created and owns. The creation of separate kink bodies is usually used for extreme play, such as permanent but inconvenient body modifications. Alternate Body creation involves medidating, drawing or visualizing a desired body shape and ability, and consuming Essence that has been gained from adventuring and play within the KinkRealm. If a body is too complex and the KinkSoul doesn't have enough essence, the AlternateBody creation fails. A KinkSoul can switch to a different body if they own an AlternateBody. When this happens, the body without a soul emulates the last known behavior of the KinkSoul that inhabited it - but it's not really the person that owns that body. When a soul switches back, they gain the memories and are able to catch up with what happened. Having an AlternateBody is not to be confused with a BodyState - which is being able to use essence to magically transform the current body between existing "save states". An AlternateBody, on the other hand, is a physically separate body. Switching back and forth between AlternateBody also comes at the cost of #MentalEnergy, which if overused, can leave the person feeling sleepy and unable to focused until they sleep. An owned AlternateBody can be "reclaimed" by touching it, reminding the KinkBody that it is the same person as the KinkSoul and becoming one, while also recuperating the essence that was used to create that KinkBody. This costs #MentalEnergy. Bodies that aren't currently inhabited by a soul are very easy to spot - they usually have very simple NPC-like behavior. In addition, any Realmgoer (real person) has a sixth sense that provides a clear gut feeling when they're not currently talking to the "real" soul. However, Realmspawn cannot tell the difference. Due to the possible confusion it can cause, it's in the interest of any Realmgoer to keep body switching low-key, and to not make it obvious that this power exists.

The ritual of creating a permanent SharedBodyState and using it by default - at most, temporarily splitting up but always with the intention of coming back together.

A magical "save state" of a KinkBody's physical attributes. This save state can only be created by a KinkSoul that has enough Essence to do so. Creation of a BodyState involves gathering and then spending Essence by focusing the mind on giving the body state a uniquely identifying name. For example, "My Default Form", or "My Quadruped Form". Once a BodyState has been created, it is possible to revert to a specific body state, reverting any current changes to the body. This costs more #MentalEnergy the more wildly different the body has diverged from the save state. For example, if all that was changed is that the user lost their hair, then it will not cost much mental energy to revert to a saved BodyState where they still had hair. But if for example, the user's body was changed in an insane number of ways and they want to revert back to their normal body, it will take more MentalEnergy, possibly taking days. When visiting extreme locations like TheLight or TheDeep, it must be maximum priority for any KinkSoul to create at least one BodyState BEFORE venturing out to risky places. This is because these bizarre locations carry the risk of undergoing permanent body modifications if not careful. Switching to a BodyState can be used creatively, but can also lead to unexpected effects if precautions aren't taken - which may cause mishaps like stuck in a room when reverting to a bigger state, or becoming naked in public because of shrinking and clothes no longer fitting. Having BodyStates is not to be confused with Shapeshifting, which is the act of changing the shape or attributes of one's body. A BodyState is merely a snapshot of what the body is currently like. However, combining them can be convenient - such as Shapeshifting to a new form, saving it as a BodyState, and then reverting back to that state when convenient. It is possible to have a BodyState that involves more than one person stuck to each other, usually through conjoinment or fusion. This is called a SharedBodyState.

See the following: AlternateBody BodyState A KinkSoul can never die in the KinkRealm, since even if their body is completely obliterated, they can always create a new one and come back with full memory of what happened.

A unique identifier for a Realmgoer or powerful Realmspawn, who can choose to create and inhabit a KinkBody of choice. Even if someone's physical form is completely destroyed, their soul persists and can choose to return any time they want. A KinkSoul cannot perceive anything without a KinkBody, but they can still think and remember. The vast majority of the Realspawn does not have a KinkSoul. However, the more Realmspawn interact with a Realmgoer (aka real people), the more likely the Realmspawn is to develop a soul, gaining all the abilities that a soul has, such as the ability to create an AlternateBody, if they were to be told that it is possible and explained how it needs the right kinds of Essence.

The act of a KinkSoul shaping their KinkBody according to their desires within the KinkRealm. Shapeshifting requires spending Essence; for example, shapeshifting into a Dragon requires playing with Realmspawn who are dragons, or playing with dragon-like monsters, or defeating dragon-like monsters. With enough of the right type of Essence, any KinkSoul has the ability to shapeshift their body according to the essence they spend. By default, shapeshifting in the KinkRealm is permanent. For this reason, it is recommended to save a BodyState of the current body in order to switch between different forms, since it is easier to spend #MentalEnergy than Essence. MentalEnergy replenishes with resting, Essence is gained by experiencing.

A BodyState that involves more than one KinkSoul. This is an intimate process and allows two people to create a shared form that they can switch between. This is popular with Conjoinment fetishists, especially because of the fact that conjoinment inherently makes it take a lot of #MentalEnergy from both sides in order to revert back to each one's respective BodyState.
